Armed with lightning fretwork, explosive vocals and flowing amber hair more at home in a shampoo commercial, Sunshine Coast singer-songwriter Jimmy Davis is ready to unleash his new batch of stunning alt-rock following two years of touring his breakout release “Bittersweet”. Raised in the small hinterland village of Cooran in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Davis first picked up a guitar at 14-years-old and took to his local streets busking his own songs only some 12 months later.

At age 16 he started his first band, Those Clever Foxes, and shortly after performed at local festivals Earth Frequency Festival, Big Pineapple Festival and Golden Days as guest vocalist for Sunshine Coast dub-rockers The Mank.

The next two years saw Davis tour extensively across Australia, playing almost every live music haunt and folk ‘n blues festivals on the east coast of Australia, including: Bluesfest, Woodford Folk Festival, Bendigo Blues & Roots, Jungle Love Music & Arts Festival, St Albans Folk Festival, Caloundra Music Festival, Newkind Festival as well as Victoria’s NYE On The Hill. Davis was also invited to perform in New Caledonia as part of their celebrations for St Patrick’s day.

“When I’m onstage there’s no polish, no whitewash to hide blemishes or imperfections. I live for the raw expression and uncertainties that come with performing no matter how big or small the occasion,” says Davis.

“Before every show I tell myself, “This is going to be the best and worst show of my life, I’m going to succeed and crumble at the same time”. That mantra of sorts ensures that whatever happens I must own every moment while I’m in the spotlight.”

During his time on the road, Davis has forged many high-profile writing collaborations and ongoing friendships. His current writing credits include songs with Adelaide rapper Allday, Thomas Busby (Busby Marou), former X Factor contestant Caitlyn Shadbolt, Tibor Gede from Melbourne rockers Alithia, wunderkid producer Taka Perry, and rising Aussie popstars GRAACE, JEFFE and Tia Gostelow.

2019 for Jimmy Davis will see the fiery alt-rocker release his brand new single “Hold You Down” and again hit the road for live shows and festival appearances across Australia’s east coast and beyond.
