THE SOLOMONS

Combine Gippsland-born troubadour and ARIA nominee Harry Hookey with two of Fremantle’s most prominent and hard touring instrumentalists, Lucky Oceans and David Hyams -who happen to both be resident in Solomon street -and you get ‘The Solomons’.

Think “Dylan-esque wordplay, followed by something more corner-bar folkie, to Weddings Parties sing-along stomp, and occasional country twang”What has now become their standing intro line -“we met in prison” describes the reality, as the 3 came together in 2013 to work on the “Murru” project in WA’s northwest , where artists co-wrote and recorded with Roebourne prison inmates.

Since that time they have performed together to open the Melbourne Festival in 2014, at the 2017 Fairbridge Festival (where they were chosen by festival punters as their second favourite act) and at the 2018 Nannup and National Folk Festivals.

They officially became “The Solomons” in 2019 on an extensive tour of Tasmania which saw songs from all 3 enter the eclectic mix.
