Dave Johnson

Dave Johnson is a singer song writer troubadour based in Fremantle WA. He has produced three studio albums and has had nominations in both WAM song of the year (Folk) and the International Song Writing Competition. Dave has toured extensively through Europe and played most Australian Festivals with his old band-(Powerhouse Celtic band) The Fling.  Dave has a timeless and achingly beautiful collection of songs deeply rooted in old school country/folk but with subtle electro and multi-cultural influences. His performance and delivery manage to tap into everything that makes genuine country/folk music unique and beautiful: raw emotion, deep groove and clever storytelling.

Dave’s latest album – Inequality Blvd, is very much a themed album and tackles subject matter ranging from the oppression of refugees to how the ever-increasing socio-economic divide plays out on the streets of our communities. Much of its content has been drawing from his experiences in working with kids in the youth justice system and running a choir out of a local homeless shelter. Insightful, thought provoking and brimming with compassion- Rhythms Mag.

Dave will be presenting songs from Inequality Blvd and his back catalogue with virtuoso violin player Phoebe Corke (Tijuana Cartel).
