Kira Gunn

Kira is an emerging young artist from Boorlo, Perth, fresh out of WAAPA with an undergraduate degree in Classical Harp Performance. She discovered a love for writing folk music in her late teens, and has since touched many hearts with her songs. Combining an earthy voice, profound lyrics, and the ethereal qualities of the harp, Kira’s sound is totally unique. She draws from folk, classical, experimental, jazz, and international influences, supported by a band of WAAPA-trained jazz musicians. These include Bryn Larkin, William Lee and Jared Frank, all exceptionally skilled, highly-regarded professionals within the scene. They will also be joined by guest folk artist Pearl Roycroft, a beautiful singer-songwriter in her own right.

Central to Kira’s writing is her lyrics. She writes on a range of stirring topics, including faith, eternity, friendship, family, identity, dreams, fears, hopes and more. There are often tears at Kira’s gigs, as she invites the audience to walk with her through deep questions, struggles, joys and the profound hope she has in the person of Jesus.

Kira has been gigging professionally across the Perth scene since she was 15, and can be found playing all kinds of music at weddings, parties, private functions, house-concerts, art galleries, fringe shows, niche experimental gigs, churches, and concert-hall stages.
