Nannup District High School

Nannup District High School has a proud history of music in school, both instrumental and voice.   Music is acknowledged across the school as a unique and powerful learning area, that crosses curricular and provides opportunity for student voice.

In 2024, we have been incredibly lucky to welcome the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra and Zero Emcee, and Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse, to the school.  From Jazz and Hip Hop to the profoundly beautiful music of Guy and Gina, the students were able to interact with exceptional artists who use music to give their stories voice.

Throughout the year, students participate in instrumental programs and choir.  Lead by exceptional teachers and musicians, David and Dani, students can learn percussion, guitar and reed instruments.

Choir is at the very heart of our student voice.  Lead by Mrs Wintergreene, the choir learns and perfects songs from around the world and across genres, from hip hop to sea shanties.

Students learn about the history and importance of music and have the opportunity to develop a love of musicianship.  While some are reluctant to begin with, our students embrace the opportunity to perform and share their joy of music and storytelling.
